2008 Parish Calendar

A gift for South Africa.
The Altar furniture which stood in the Church from 1973 to 1990 has been stored since then in the back Sacristy. Three panels of white marble with a design in brass have been recovered from the dismantling of the old furniture. A panel with a dove with an olive branch with an inscription from the people of Kildysart will be sent to South Africa to Sr Ethel Normoyle. The panel will be set into the wall of the Palliative Care Unit which is being built by many local volunteers. It will be there as a token of our good wishes to the people & staff of Missionvale.
Carol Singing
The Church Choir will be singing in the Village after Mass on
Saturday and Sunday next weekend 22nd/23rd December. Any donations will be welcome and will fund the building of the wall at the entrance to the
Graveyard.

We offer our sincere sympathy to the Donnellan family, Ballylean on the death of Patrick Donnellan (in his 95th year). Patrick was our Community’s most senior member and his peaceful passing will be deeply regretted by his family, his neighbours and his many friends.

Kildysart National School Board of Management.
We offer our thanks to the outgoing B.O.M. who have served as members for the last four years. We thank them for their voluntary giving of time and effort for the best interest of our Primary School. A celebration to mark the retirement of Mr Siney Corry after 25 years as Principal of
Kildysart National School will be held on Friday 7th December ‘07. A Mass of

Gala Concert in Clarecastle Church on Friday 14th December 8pm. Local singer Dean Power will be joined by Peter O’ Donoghue and Ross Scanlan and Lismorahaun Sisters This great homecoming event will be an evening to savour Dean’s amazing singing talent which has captivated audiences throughout Europe. Please come and sing along with him and the rest of the cast your favourite Christmas carols, Irish ballads and popular arias. Tickets €15 available in Mulqueen Florist Ennis, and in Clarecastle at Ward’s, Clarecastle Pharmacy, Post Office and Doab’s butchers.

Kildysart Graveyard
A meeting was held last Tuesday of a group who are interested in the upkeep and
development of our local Cemetery (present Michael Meaney, John Cavanagh, James
Watson, Michael Michael, Fr. Neil.) The condition and future development of the
Graveyard was discussed and the work of many people was highly commended. In the
interests of tidiness it was agreed to ask those caring for graves to please
take older wreaths away for personal disposal. A meeting will be held in early
December to which all interested are invited. A date and time to be announced.
Kildysart Golf Society
Outing at Lahinch Castle Course on this Sunday 25th,

TRÓCAIRE SUDAN APPEAL - 24th
& 25th
NOVEMBER
Trócaire is working in Sudan to meet the urgent needs of people displaced and
affected by the grave emergency in Darfur. Two million people have been forced
from their homes and live in camps. There will be an opportunity to support
Trócaire's work in Sudan after all masses this weekend.

Sr. Ethel Normoyle Palliative Care Unit fundraising
Fundraising night for Sinie McCarthy who has volunteered his skill and labour
in helping to build a Hospice for St. Ethel Normoyle’s building of Hope Project
2008 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. All donations greatly appreciated @ the
door or to Sinie. Raffle & Spot Prizes on the night. Venue: Crow’s Nest,

Afternoon Tea Dance
Focus Afternoon Tea Dance on Sunday 18th
November in aid of members travelling to South Africa to assist in the Sr Ethel
Normoyle Hospice Project. Will be held in the Community Centre 4pm to 8pm.
Music will be provided by Danny Hunt and his Band.
No admission charge donation box will be in the Hall. Teas and light
refreshments will be provided and there will be a raffle for Spot Prizes ! ! !
The Old Ground Hotel will be hosting a Sunday Afternoon Dancing Series for the month of November. All proceeds will be donated to support the Dementia and Alzheimer services at Carrigoran House in Newmarket on Fergus. Dancing will be from 4 – 6 pm on Sundays November 11th – 18th – 25th. Come and enjoy an afternoon with friends and help raise funds for a good cause.

Clothes Collection in aid of Dóchas Nasamu which funds an Orphanage for children
with aids in Ikumbi a small village outside Niarobi in Kenya. Funds raised are
used to pay for food, medical care and salaries for 8 staff members. The

Are you mourning the death of a loved one? Would you like the opportunity to
explore your feelings in a group of people who have also suffered loss? If so
the STEM Support Group could be for you. STEM is a facilitated support group
which aims to help you face and move through the grieving process. A
non-residential weekend programme will be held in Ennis in late November with
the option of follow-up support meetings if needed. May not be suitable for the

Kildysart Golf Society
Kildysart Golf Society will hold an outing to Ennis Golf Club on Bank Holiday

Ethel Normoyle Palliative Care Unit
There has been a very good response to recent appeal, still need about 12 more

Evening of Opera & Operetta.
St. Kieran's Community Centre, Labasheeda, will host an informal evening of
Opera & Operetta with Soprano Regina Nathan on Saturday November 3rd. A Cheese
& Wine Reception will be held at 8.30pm followed by the concert from 9pm to

The Old Ground Hotel will be hosting a Sunday Afternoon Dancing Series for the month of November. All proceeds will be donated to support the Dementia and Alzheimer services at Carrigoran House in Newmarket on Fergus. Dancing will be from 4 – 6 pm on Sundays November 4th – 11th – 18th – 25th. Come and enjoy an afternoon with friends and help raise funds for a good cause.

Protest Rally in
Limerick on Saturday 20th October at 2:00pm
The rally will take place on O'Connell Street in the City Centre. The purpose
of the rally is to allow the residents of the West of Ireland an opportunity to
express their dissatisfaction with our Government’s inaction in tackling major
issues facing the people along the Western Seaboard. In particular we are
highlighting the loss of the Shannon to Heathrow service.
