The joint lecture series of Clare and Shannon Archaeological and Historical Societies continues on Tuesday next, November 1 at 8pm in the Civic Rooms, Ennis Town Council Headquarters, Waterpark, Drumbiggle, Ennis. In a deviation from the normal lecture format the societies will be hosting a dramatised reading of a play by well known Clare historian and writer Kieran Sheedy entitled "Sarah Byrne’s Photograph".  This play was inspired by a photograph of Sarah Byrne, a feisty Dublin-born woman who along with her husband and four other Wicklow rebels from the 1798 Rebellion was deported to New South Wales in 1805.  Sarah’s life took a number of dramatic turns which are recalled in ten inter-linked monologues by three actors, each representing Sarah at pivotal periods in her life. Kieran will be available to answer questions afterwards.  A fee of £5 euro applies to non-members, and all are welcome.  For further information contact 087-9165916 or emgreene@eircom.net
